Double
Exposure
Val and I went riding today, and I
rode Double and cantered for a few minutes. Double is such a smooth horse, and
he did so good with me on him. He is just a sweetheart. He follows Silver around
like a little brother. They are so good together. We went on a 13 mile ride last
Thursday and he did wonderful. I rode Silver and Val rode Double and
we changed on the way back home. Val says he loves me almost
as much as he loves Double :(
Shy is doing well we have him at a friends house right now. I started a new discipline with him we are training for breakaway roping. He is really good at it. He trails a calf like he's done it all his life. So now he can do halter, longe line, showmanship, equitation, horsemanship, hunter under saddle, western pleasure, trail ride, western riding, some saddleseat, jumping, team penning, roping, barrels, poles, stakes, flags, all running classes, and he is a good training aid. He'll pony pretty much anything. I am going to send you an updated picture of him as soon as I get time to take them. He is a very versatile horse. I am going to also start running him 4d barrels to see how he does. We got his time up into the mid teens so hopefully we'll do pretty good. It's hard to believe he'll be 8 in May. It doesn't seem like that long ago he was my little baby. He is the one in my life that has always loved me and that I hold dearest to my heart. He really is my baby. So thanks for the pics and keep in touch,
Brandi
Matrix
Matrix seems happy and relaxed in his new
home. He definitely was happy to see me and recognized my voice when
I called him from the porch.
Zareef
Hi Donna, just wanted to let you know that Z has done it again and cleaned up the PA & Ohio show circuit awards again! (We didn't even go for points this year and he did it.) He is as much a joy today as the day I bought him and has a permanent home. So far he's been halter, western, hunt and saddleseat all with talent and success. He even started teaching my 7-year-old niece to ride. This year she's going to try her hand at showing so Z will probably only have to go to the bigger shows with me (I can't stand not to show him) and then he's going to learn to be a trail horse too. His personality has stayed the same even as he's matured and is THE best thing about him. If anyone ever asks they sure hear an ear full from me on who I think the best sire is for beauty, brains and personality - KEY of course! Tammy
Hey Donna, Kadin is still doing great and he's being ponied off of my friend's Tennessee Walker out on trail rides with us. Kadin had his best show
yet...he's really improving. We took 1st in the "Foals of 2002" class, 1st in
the "Arab and 1/2 Arab in Hand" class, 2nd in "English Model", and a Reserve
Champion in the Light Division! He did great! I just wanted to share the news
with you! I hope everything is going well with you. Talk to you again
soon. Danielle
First let me say that Style is just wonderful! She has quickly become one of the family and as such is spoiled sweet!! I love my Style, so it follows that I love Key!!! I would recommend him to anyone. Love to be able to help out!! By the way, Style is doing wonderfully in her training. Everyone who sees her loves her, from the farrier to the vet and on. They all want to know her breed and where she came from, and naturally, I love bragging on her daddy and his farm. I was planning to just use her for pleasure, but my trainer is pushing hard for me to show her. Style seems to love squaring up and showing off and she surely has all the right stuff to win!!! Her tail is already to the ground and her coat looks like a bright copper penny. She has plenty of show and go and is very typey. She is coming 2 in May and is about 14.1 hands right now. Thanks for breeding so responsibly! Best wishes, As you know, this is the first baby I have ever started, and she makes it seem so easy. Started riding her about a month ago. She is very light and easy, responds to leg cues, and eager to learn more. I trust her completely in the round pen, and have already let my 9 and 11 year old daughters walk/trot her in it as well as given rides to my 3 year old son. Outside the round pen I have begun working her in open fields and along side quite roads. Being a youngster, the great big world spooks her, but she has been taught to startle in place and is not difficult to handle. She is well proportioned, straight legged, with an even top line (Except at the beginning of a new growth spurt). She moves well with interest and spark. She is a deep copper with a slightly lighter redder mane and a lovely long, full tail. She has a beautiful head which she carries well, and of course, her big dreamy eyes. She has great feet and I am riding her barefoot with absolutely no problem. It never fails when I am riding her that someone slows way down to take a good look, and it is not at all unusual to see them drive by again for a second look. Since there is a boarding facility next door and almost every other farm has horses on our street, she must be a real stand out to be getting all this attention!! Hi Donna. This is Marcy from Michigan. Just wanted to let you know Style is doing great. I ride her bitless as she prefers it and sets her head beautifully. I can ride her bareback over ground poles and she is already working on second level dressage moves. This is her first full year under a saddle! Her trainer has recommended her for our mounted police training program. She really is remarkable. I have had children as young as 4 riding her in a round pen with out a problem. I can use one rein on her without missing a beat, and she leg reins like a dream. I am still working on open field work as she still is young and nervous, but she is also trusting and bonds strongly. If she sees me coming before I get a chance to call her, she runs to greet me, even if she is in her 2 acre pasture with her buddy. She is a stunning horse with wonderful movement and loves to show off to a crowd!!! She is even getting some small white spots on both of her flanks so there is a good chance she may throw color if bred. Needless to say, I am thrilled, thank you for breeding such wonderful animals! Graphix
Carolyn purchased Graphix from Key's first foal crop. When Carolyn brought a mare down to breed to Key, she immediately fell in love with the cute spotted colt and decided to buy him when he came up for sale. Just look what she has done with her amazing gelding: Pinto
Champion In
a recent note from Carolyn, she shared with me that their goal
was an ROM in Western Riding.
Laura purchased this beautiful guy when he was just a baby......before he was even weaned. I only get to see Laura once a year.........at a local show, but she is always there showing off her boy. She is so proud to tell about all they have done together. You only need to look at Laura looking at Classic Key to see the love they share.

Donna, I've graduated to riding Vinnie
around the property and he is doing really well. I wonder if I'm
getting better or I'm getting better horses. I've been using a French
training snaffle and have had no resistance. He seems to really like this
bit. I hate to even put a full bridle on him.
Mum thinks he is a very quick learner. The first time I asked him to back up, he was unsure of what I wanted, the second time he had got the message and the next night he backed up with ease. I think you need to consider starting a reunion for Key babies and their owners. To get a group of Key's babies together would be a spectacular sight. I have enjoyed talking with Tammy about our horses and I think Tammy and her mother have enjoyed seeing Vinnie show as I enjoy seeing Zareef. Sherry
